Humans Or Humanoids?

(This article focuses "mainly" on the Indian system)

Humans are the organisms who possess emotions, not only towards themselves but also towards their family, society, and even the things they own. Before the twenty-first century, society was such that our kids had feelings for everything around them, even moral values and some basic principles were possessed by them that governed their actions and spoken words. People were more sensitive about each other. Even our education system was not such “grade focused”, instead it was more focused on the moral principles of the kids. Times were such that even parents were not much bothered about the grades of the students, rebukes relating to studies were there but in extreme cases.
But today, the case is entirely different. The children of today are expected to be all-rounders. Parents want their kids to score the damn A’s in every activity that is marked. Along with this, students are always overburdened with the competitive responsibilities which come along with the growing literacy rate and reducing job opportunities.

Teachers in educational institutions keep on stressing that ‘concentrate more on your studies’ even to a kid who is studying 17 hours a day, that too not totally for himself, to avoid scolding from teachers and to perform better in the upcoming examinations in order to see some happy expressions on the faces of his parents. You know this kid even suppresses his interests sometimes, he is unable to grow his intelligence out of the books and assignments.

Nowadays, a new aspiration of teachers is growing, they want the kid to be disciplined, quiet and sincere in the classroom. Some students follow that point but some who are already tired of 17 hours of overtiring shit, try mischievous acts to take themselves out of the system. After this, teachers start rambling on the subjects like moral values, sincerity, and even the good old “disciplined” days. Students don’t give a damn about all this, because they know that even if they try acting nicely their inner self will remain disturbed all the time. (Some students do these acts intentionally, not to avoid the disturbing schedule.)

The point is that our current education system is judging a fish’s ability to climb the damn tree. Come on, we all know that every person has some strong points and weak points, then why are “weak points” used to determine a student’s “strength”? Why do they have to tolerate the nonsense which has zero value in their careers, I mean nobody is going to ask an engineer when was Napoleon born and an archaeologist what is the theory of constant proportion by mass. Then everybody is concerned with the respective works they perform.

After the creation of any given thing, considerable changes in its structure and function have occurred. However, if we compare the structure of the classroom, it is still the same, just due to the evolution of technology a new subject ‘IT’ has emerged. Not only in classrooms, but this is also valid for the syllabus. I agree that laws and postulates are going to be the same but at least literature and history texts can be changed every five years, after all, kids who are not taking history for higher studies don’t need the burden of a 12th-15th century history.

And alongside, if teachers want kids, who are already working beyond their potential, to work more on their studies, which is unessential for that particular period, my suggestion to those teachers is to persuade nature if she agrees to give 48 hours in one day. You know this system is getting beyond human limits, they want us to sleep for at least 6 hours in 24 hours, and alongside they demand the completion of 36 hours of work in 24 hours.

We as students, realize the importance of “required” and “healthy” education but we are against the concept of stressful education and unnecessary assignments, which we prepare by staying awake at night and destroying our sleep time, that are just stamped by authorities and thrown away like garbage the next day. We demand reforms and changes that stop the conversion of humans to humanoids. And if this is not possible then create the working opportunities for us that, at least, pay back our education costs and help us to support our families.
